A specialty container with a built-in strainer from the UniPak product line of RPC Superfos Central Region (Hamburg, Germany) is used by a brand owner to pack a new range of seafood products in brine and oil.

The mussels, shrimps, octopus and seafood cocktails—from Santa Bremor, the leading seafood producer in Belarus—are not only benefitting from the pack’s convenient design, but also from its novelty value, which distinguishes it from the competition. RPC Superfos Fish strainer cup

The injection moulded polypropylene UniPak cup is easy to open and reclose, and features a liquid-tight snap-on lid and a visible deterrent to tampering.

The strainer is made of the same PP polymer as the cup, for which it is designed to fit into perfectly. Label graphics are rendered in sharp photo quality using advanced in-mould labelling techniques, and include an infographic explaining the benefits of the strainer to customers.

Angelina Averina, Santa Bremor brand manager, says the pack helps to maintain product quality.

“We opted for the pack with a strainer because it makes it easy for consumers to take some seafood from the container and leave the rest in the brine or oil for later consumption,” she explains. “Our product remains juicy, tastes better and also stays fresh for longer when it is kept in the liquid in the fridge. In this way, the packaging solution safeguards the quality of our preserved seafood product, even after opening.”

Santa Bremor’s new seafood range consists of a variety of the most popular types of seafood preserves in its main markets including Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Moldova. The selected UniPak contains 500g and is 95mm in diameter.

“We are happy to have a big volume pack in our assortment,” continues Averina. “The size as well as the cylindrical shape is ideal for our customers. The strainer represents a clear advantage, because it makes sure that we stand out from our competitors. Customers remember the new seafood preserves from Santa Bremor because of the convenient strainer.”

The new range and its packaging have received positive feedback.

“We offer a high quality seafood product, complemented by a high quality packaging solution,” Averina says. “It is good to see that our distributors show plenty of interest in our new series and keep putting it on the supermarket shelf.”
