KraussMaffei is demonstrating a renewed interest in sustainable practices and a circular economy and will be presenting new functionality and technology at the upcoming K Trade Fair. Presenting at the K Trade Fair in October 2019, KraussMaffei has plans to exhibit a closed material and production circuit involving extrusion and injection moulding machinery.

The concept of a circular economy was first presented as early as the 1960’s, but the idea has quickly gained ground in the last few years.  In essence, a circular economy refers to an economic system aimed at minimising waste and make the most of resources.

In general, packaging materials are quickly used and then discarded, and KraussMaffei would like to see these materials being reused- in the automotive sector, for example. The group is linking its extrusion, injection moulding machinery and digital and service solutions business units, all in order to create solutions for a circular economy. KraussMaffei will be present at the K Trade Fair in Düsseldorf, Germany, where it will be showcasing its technological pioneering in the preparation and reuse of recycled plastics. Visitors will be able to see KraussMaffei’s new strategy in action during this event, as KraussMaffei intends to recycle a polypropylene bucket and transform it into a car’s A-pillar through the use of a ZE 28 BluePower twin-screw extruder. KraussMaffei is currently enhancing efforts with partners and customers in order to develop new business units for the reuse of plastics.

It is primarily due to developments in society and ecology that KraussMaffei has become more involved in the field of circular economy. “KraussMaffei is aware of its responsibility and, as one of the world market leaders, wants to occupy a leading role in the areas of recycling, upcycling and recompounding of plastics,” says Matthias Sievarding, President of the Extrusion Technology Segment, “We view ourselves as enablers of circular economy for our customers so that they can be successful as part of this economy.”

KraussMaffei is currently the world’s only provider of ready-to-use system solutions for injection moulding, extrusion and reaction process technology.

Plastic and Chemical Trading is proud to work with together international partner KraussMaffei Berstorff, working together to deliver world-class plastic manufacturing, injection moulding, and extrusion solutions.
